General information

The "Cel Archeologie van de Metaaltijden" / "Cellule Archéologie des âges des métaux" (C.A.M.) was founded in September 1992 to create a yearly forum for discussion and presentation of recent archaeological results on the Bronze and Iron Ages in Belgium and neighbouring countries.

The members of its Executive Board have taken the responsibility to organize each year a one-day conference on recent research in Belgium, Luxemburg, northern France, southern England and the south of the Netherlands. Until now, nine such days have taken place, each time with more than a hundred participants from Belgium and abroad.

A circular letter invites archaeologists to present a lecture (5-20 min.) or a paper. Furthermore, we insert two major lectures on foreign topics (45-60 min.), which might be of direct relevance to the archaeology of the Low Countries. Former speakers include Nico Roymans (I.P.P., Amsterdam), Bernard Lambot (C.R.A.V.O., Compiègne), Ian Stead (British Museum, London), Francis Pryor (Flag Fen Archaeological Trust), Valentin Rychner (Université de Neuchâtel), Jeannot Metzler (Luxembourg), Andrew Lawson (Salisbury), André Rapin (C.R.A.V.O., Compiègne), Venceslas Kruta (E.H.E.S.S., Paris), B. Sicherl (Münster), Jean-Jacques Charpy (Musée d'Epernay), Niels Axel Boas (Denmark), Stuart Needham (British Museum, London), Béatrice Cauuet (C.N.R.S., Toulouse), F.R. Herrmann (Wiesbaden), Claude Mordant (Dijon), Barbara Armbruster (Toulouse), Dirk Brandherm (Bochum), Mike Parker-Pearson (Sheffield), Doris Pany (Vienna) and Stefan Wirth (Dijon).

 This year, the 17th meeting will be organised in Liège/Luik, on Saturday 7 March 2009 (Salle du Théâtre, bât. A4, place du XX août 7, B-4000 Liège).

Summaries of all lectures are collected beforehand and are distributed at the conference itself in printed form. These yearly conference proceedings are published under the title Lunula. Archaeologia protohistorica.
